I agree with Nate, tournament was ran very well and I felt that the teams were in the correct class. We never had any problems with umpires, except for the fact that they would not call the low strike. Other than that is was a good time.

They were not going to call that pitch this weekend. Heard they were told in a meeting before tourney started, this was rec-E pitching, rec-E hitting and rec-E fielding. I did not know the pitching rules were different as you moved up in class. I struggled with the umps who pretty much wanted ASA arch and no corners.

LWS I do not know who told you that because I was in the meeting and that was not said
What was said is the pitching is not 5ft to 8ft, it is 4ft to 10ft, That came right from the UIC But he also said that the ball must be above the batters knee at the front of the plate. And I will agree a 4 ft pitch cannot be 20 to 24 inches high at the front of the plate and hit 2 inches behind the plate a pitch that barely reaches 4 ft in the middle would only be 12 to 14 inches high at the front of the plate
Now it is up to each umpire to decide in his mind what is 4ft and what is 10 ft
Just like when somebody says a batter hit the ball 350 when most people says it was not over 325. Difference of opinion.

I was the Tournament UIC for the Recreational Regional, and I'm telling you straight up, not a word was said about the strike zone being any different than ever before. What was said is, the 4 ft. pitch that lands just a few inches behind the plate is not a strike because it was not above the knee when it past through the strike zone. It was also said that umpires should not squeeze the pitches and make them throw everything between 5 and 8 ft. The strike zone is 4 to 10 from the ground, and I encouraged the umpires to call the 10 ft strike, because it is a strike. It only looks high, because not many pitchers throw it 10 ft and not many umpires call it.
As far as Banks34 making the comment about we only had 1 good umpire and the rest were pretty bad, I don't agree with that at all. As far as I am aware, we had no complaints on umpiring all weekend. You are the first one that I have heard comment on the umpiring being bad. Myself, Mike Caldwell, Big Red, Hank, and Kenny Mac were all very pleased with the job our umpires did, and the teams that came to us were happy with the job our umpires did. I hate that you fell differently.
Congrats to Asylum on a great tournament. Solid team and a good bunch of guys. Great job by No Doubt. Runner-up out of 30 teams is very respectable. Thanks to all the teams that came out to play ISA this past weekend. I hope to see you again very soon. Thanks to all the umpires for the great job you guys did in this tournament.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE GOING TO FLORIDA FOR THE WORLD THIS COMING WEEKEND!!!! SEE YOU DOWN THERE.

I wasn't complaining. By no means. None of the other umpires looked consistent with their strike zone. And John is always consistent. Even the other ump for GA wasn't too great. I wasn't trying to put NC on the spot. I didn't see any problems with bad calls.

Just repeating, what I heard! And by the way 10' is not very high. The problem is no one actually knows the limit, alot of pitches were almost 12 and higher on some fields. Good example for those who need help with judgement. Most chain link fence sections around fields have breaks at 5', so the second break or bar is about 10'. When you are standing on the side and watching pitches go 2' above that break bar it is not hard to tell. Not much to add just common sense.
