Hero For A Day Charity Softball Tournament

UGA HEROs is a nonprofit, student-run organization dedicated to raising funds for H.E.R.O. for Children Inc. H.E.R.O. for Children Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life of children in Georgia affected by HIV/AIDS by means beyond their control.

Did you know?
Georgia ranks 8th in the country for number of pediatric HIV/AIDS cases
12,000 children in Georgia are affected by HIV/AIDS
More than half of the children in our programs have lost either one or both parents to the disease
Over 90% of the children in our programs reside in households with annual incomes of $10,000 or less
50.4% Americans still believe HIV/AIDS can be transmitted by airborne particles (contributing to social stigma)
H.E.R.O. for Children is the only organization providing quality of life care to these children in the state

With the help of the Center for Disease Control and Emory University, H.E.R.O. established the “Rising HEROes Program,” which is the world’s first curriculum focused on improving the emotional health and social development of these children. Other services provided by H.E.R.O. include the “SuperHEROs Mentor Program” and the “HERO Olympics.” Head football Coach Mark Richt and legendary Coach Vince Dooley both loyally support H.E.R.O. and sit on the Board of Directors.
